DESCRIPTION:
Designed to familiarize coaching participant with the practices, techniquess and
theory of badminton. Development of at least intermediate skill level is
expected. Primary goal of conference is to equip participants with skills
necessary to effectively teach badminton.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Participant will be capable of demonstrating the following badminton skills:
short serve, long serve, clear, drop, net shot, smash, and drive, . Skills will
be taught, practiced and supervised by instructor on the badminton court. There
will be an assessment by instructors.
2. Participants will be capable of exhibiting skill, tactics, strategy and
understanding of the rules and etiquette in competition situation. Skills are
exhibited by playing games in set sitiuation. There will be an assessement by
instructors.
3. Participants will be capable of justifying the inclusion of badminton in
physical education programs and community programs.
4. Participants will be capable of listing and identifying all appropriate
teaching progression for badminton skill for various age groups. The concept
will be presented through lecture and detail skills demonstration.
5. The participant will be capable of utilizing basic biomechanical priniciples
to analyze and teach badminton. Basic biomechanical skills will be demonstrated.
6. Participants will be capable of passing a written test on rules, tactics
strategies, court play, and accepted stroke mechanics of badminton.
7.Participants will be introduced to strategy and optimal shot selection for
singles, doubles and mixed doubles rotation
8. Participants will be introduced to advanced footwork, 9 cornor theory,
varying steps and speed to counter opponents shots.
9. Particpants will be introduced to player mental preparation.
10. Paticipants will be introduced to nutrition and physical excercise
pre-competition, post-competition, and during competion
11. Particpants will be introuduced to optimal practice times, duration, and
recovery period,
12. Requirements: Participant must be a member in of USA Badminton and have a
basic understanding of the game.
