4th of July Family Picnic in the Presidential Park
On Tuesday, July 4 th, the
William J. Clinton Presidential Center will be holding
its first annual “Family Picnic in the Presidential
Park”. In celebration of our nation’s 230th birthday,
the Clinton Library is offering free admission and
extended hours. In addition to free admission, the
Clinton Center is encouraging families and their pets
throughout the state to come and picnic in the
presidential park with food, games and music that will
be available.
“We want families across
Arkansas to see the presidential park as a fun and
inviting place where they can relax and enjoy the many
different views and attractions,” said Stephanie Streett
, Executive Director for the William J. Clinton
Foundation.
Food vendors will be on site
selling snow cones, hot dogs, hamburgers, Hillary’s
chocolate chip cookies and more.
In addition to food, the
Clinton Center will also have several lawn games set up
throughout the park for visitors to play, such as
croquet, horseshoes, frisbees, badminton and more.
Throughout the day inside the
Clinton Library will be special appearances by
presidential re-enactor, Niel Johnson, who will portray
our nation’s thirty-third president, Harry Truman. Mr.
Johnson will re-live the issues and decisions of
President Truman and his administration beginning at
10:00 a.m. and at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m , all inside
the Garden View Room.
The Clinton Library opens at
9:00 a.m. and will stay open until 6:00 p.m. , one hour
later than usual. In addition to the picnic, families
can take advantage of the library’s newest attractions:
the audio tour given by President Clinton and a special
exhibit entitled - Happy Trails: Cowboy Heroes of the
Silver Screen.
Additionally, Sturgis Hall,
home of the University of Arkansas Clinton School will
be open for tours beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The Clinton Museum Store
located in the heart of the River Market is the place
for memorabilia and merchandise to celebrate Arkansas ’
favorite son and will be open on the 4 th of July from
10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
